Only God can Judge Me

Only God can Judge me and no one else.
If you think you are good enough to debate me in my standards;
Better think again if you don’t know life.

Sacred Homes, Sacred Temple

Conference Message by
Elder Gary E. Stevenson
General Conference April 2009

During Christ visit on his other sheep or the Nephites and Lamanites nation. Why would the Saviour instruct the people to "Go into" their "Homes" in preparation for the next day of his instruction? Why not in their synagogue or church, or to go to their prophets or Leaders? Perhaps they could receive a good instruction to them, but why Homes? (reference below)

Behold, now it came to pass that when Jesus had spoken these words he looked round about again on the multitude, and he said unto them: Behold, my time is at hand.

2 I perceive that ye are weak, that ye cannot understand all my words which I am commanded of the Father to speak unto you at this time.

3 Therefore, go ye unto your homes, and ponder upon the things which I have said, and ask of the Father, in my name, that ye may understand, and prepare your minds for the morrow, and I come unto you again.

4 But now I go unto the Father, and also to show myself unto the lost tribes of Israel, for they are not lost unto the Father, for he knoweth whither he hath taken them.

 3 Nephi 17:1-4

So why Homes? Elder Gary E. Stevenson on the same conference message he says this citing Bible Dictionary under the word Temple (pg. 781) -

Under the definition of “Temple” in the Bible Dictionary, we read the following: “It is the most holy of any place of worship on the earth,” followed by this insightful statement: “Only the home can compare with the temple in sacredness.” For me this suggests a sacred relationship between the temple and the home. Not only can we turn the doors of our homes to the temple, or the house of the Lord; we can make our homes a “house of the Lord.”

Christ knows which place is more holy or sacred than any other. The question is -

  • Was Our Homes reverent enough or was it a perfect place to receive God's blessings equal to temple's environment?

Elder Gary E. Stevenson added the same question and he says this -

Wherever your home may be and whatever its configuration, the application of eternal gospel principles within its walls is universal. Let’s begin. Imagine that you are opening your front door and walking inside your home. What do you see, and how do you feel? Is it a place of love, peace, and refuge from the world, as is the temple? Is it clean and orderly? As you walk through the rooms of your home, do you see uplifting images which include appropriate pictures of the temple and the Savior? Is your bedroom or sleeping area a place for personal prayer? Is your gathering area or kitchen a place where food is prepared and enjoyed together, allowing uplifting conversation and family time? Are scriptures found in a room where the family can study, pray, and learn together? Can you find your personal gospel study space? Does the music you hear or the entertainment you see, online or otherwise, offend the Spirit? Is the conversation uplifting and without contention? That concludes our tour. Perhaps you, as I, found a few spots that need some “home improvement”—hopefully not an “extreme home makeover.”

Whether our living space is large or small, humble or extravagant, there is a place for each of these gospel priorities in each of our homes.
