Debunking Job Bautista in his Gold Plates Myth Attack

Another attack from our Iglesia Ni Cristo friend who uses a certain verses from the Book of Mormon that he never understood the context even the history background of the passage. Now let's make a commentary and response to his poor criticisms and find out if he's telling the truth.

Below are the words that he used to Provoke me and was copied from his very own Facebook wall that he tagged me thinking it couldn't be answered. See the text below, I put his criticisms on bullets -
His first impression as he addressed me was all about the Book of Mormon that was written on metal plates. Actually his direct point was all about a made up story since he don't believe on it the reason why he use the word "pinitpit" in tagalog which sometime translates as trashed.
    • 2 Nephi 9:5 Yea, I know that ye know that in the body he shall show himself unto those at Jerusalem, from whence we came; for it is expedient that it should be among them; for it behooveth the great Creator that he suffereth himself to become subject unto man in the flesh, and die for all men, that all men might become subject unto him.
His quote was in 2 Nephi 9:5 we find Jacob, the brother of Nephi, delivering a powerful sermon to the people of Nephi. This chapter is a centerpiece of Jacob's teachings on the Atonement of Jesus Christ and its essential role in human salvation.

This verse situates the Atonement of Jesus Christ within the context of His mission on Earth, particularly emphasizing His mortal ministry, death, and Resurrection. Jacob is teaching about the necessity of the Messiah's appearance in mortality, specifically among the inhabitants of Jerusalem, where He would be judged, crucified, and then rise from the dead. This sequence of events is presented as crucial not only for the fulfillment of prophecy but also as a fundamental part of God's plan of salvation for all humanity.

The broader context of 2 Nephi 9 explores themes like the fall of Adam and Eve, the importance of the resurrection, and the joy of redemption available through Christ. Jacob's teachings serve to remind us of the mercy and love of God, which makes salvation possible through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. It's a call to faith, repentance, and a hopeful perspective on the eternal possibilities afforded to mankind through the Savior's sacrifice.
Now he made an attempt about the creator which mostly in Christian world we believed as the Christ was the same being who was beaten and sacrifice his life for us to perform the atonement. This is not actually biblically contradicting since it was the same Christ who was with the Father before the creation and he was their to organize the patterns of Creating the universe which is everything around it and under it.

Nows here's the rest of the biblical passage that supports this theology.

John 1:1-3, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made."

Colossians 1:16-17 "For by Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together."

Hebrews 1:2 "in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed the heir of all things, through whom also He created the world."

There were other passages which we could construct a parallel in the old testament to Christ Nature and his divinity during his Ministry. I may add on it sometime on different article in this blog since I don't have enough room to include it here in Job Bautista's concern.

Moving on, here he quoted a scripture to support his statement. Question is, does it really supports his statement? Let's find out -

I'm thinking he meant 1 Timothy 1:15, but let's include it.

15. This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
16. Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.
17. Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

I included verse 17 which most of the INC make a direct excuse that it doesn't meant anything about Christ but rather it's the Father. Now the question is " If that's what it is, then what about the rest of Paul's epistle to Timothy? Here let's make a parallel to what Paul had said to Timothy. Let's read, also take note on the highlighted words to figure out who was Paul talking to, and observe how and to whom it was -1 Timothy 6:13-16

13. I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;
14. That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:
15. Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
16. Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.

Now here the object Job Bautista and pay Attention so you could learn how to read your Bible.

First -

  • Who's the King Eternal in 1 Timothy 1:17? Answer is on the same verse "the wise God"
  • And who's the King of Kings and Lord of Lord in 1 Timothy 6:15? Answer in verse 14 Lord Jesus Christ
Second -
  • Who is immortal in 1 Timothy 1:17? Answer is on the same verse "the wise God"
  • Who has immortality in 1 Timothy 6:16? Answer in verse 14 Lord Jesus Christ
Third -
  • Who is invisible in 1 Timothy 1:17? Answer is on the same verse "the wise God"
  • Who is this Being in 1 Timothy 6:16 that no man hath seen, or can see? Answer in verse 14 Lord Jesus Christ
Fourth -
  • Who is this being that has honour and glory for ever and ever in 1 Timothy 1:17? Answer is on the same verse "the wise God"
  • Who is this Being of whom be honour and power everlasting in 1 Timothy 6:16? Answer in verse 14 Lord Jesus Christ
Can't comprehend the scriptures Job Bautista? Of course you don't like the sound of that idea since it is not the doctrine of INC but rather it's the doctrine of Christianity. So yeah what do we expect.

    • NKJV Bible.
    • Revelation 5:9 And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation
Funny how you look at yourself thinking I knew nothing about the scriptures. Go ahead a try a new study if you think I was wrong.
This question is so absurd, why would you ask that question when infact we believe it was Christ who redeem us from the fall and the same Christ who was crucified and died for the sake of salvation. Senseless!
Mateo 24:24
In conclusion, Book of Mormon has Sustain Biblical understanding and therefore a witness that Christ is the Son of God who died and brought forth salvation. As Job Bautista fail to understand the teachings of the Scriptures, his knowledge is too weak to comprehend the context and doctrine of Christianity, as Matthew 24:24 warns about the potential for deception even among those who might seem very faithful or knowledgeable. It says, "For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect." This specific verse alone has nothing to do with the Iglesia Ni Christo in Philippines since they don't have prophets and Christ Clearly state that "by their fruits they shall know them" (Matthew 7:15-20) in which indeed there's a need of Prophet and we may be able to know them by their fruits.
