Be Grateful in all things.

Just this week, my wife talks to me about the food that she distributed last Sunday and she's happy to give some parts of our blessings. She intended to help those in need. She listed names as who will be chosen few that she felt who are in need. And after all the efforts and Joy she felt, and to our surprise, there was just one person who made an effort to thank her for the blessings they receive from my wife.

My wife was happy actually, but at the same time, she felt sad and dismayed that it seems like after all of those efforts there were just 1 out of 10 whose hearts has the desire to thank her back and be grateful for her little effort. Maybe they don't have enough time to send a message or it may not be the priority at the moment in their lives. Whatever the situations in their lives, I could find a clue as to why it's so hard to give thanks for those small acts that they received.

In one of the similar stories biblically, Christ experienced the same to those people whom he serve. A people that were promised with a Messiah and yet hard in their feelings.

11 ¶ And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.

12 And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:

13 And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.

14 And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.

15 And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, 16 And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.

17 And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine?

18 There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.

19 And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way: thy faith hath made thee whole.

 Luke 17:11-19

The same lessons that we encounter in our daily lives. A question that everyone should feel to ponder. "Are we grateful in all things or not?" Ingratitude just leads us to pride and disrespect. We must think about what others felt and think something to thank a person back, either through small acts or whatever it will be.

Gordon B.  Hinckley once said this -

Gratitude is a divine principle.  The Lord has declared through revelation: "Thou shalt thank the Lord thy God in all things.   . . .

"And in nothing doth man offend God, or against none is his wrath kindled, save those who confess not his hand in all things." (D&C 59:7, 21.)

Our society is afflicted by a spirit of thoughtless arrogance unbecoming those who have been so magnificently blessed.  How grateful we should be for the bounties we enjoy.   . . .

How magnificently we are blessed!  How thankful we ought to be! . . .

Cultivate a spirit of thanksgiving for the blessing of life and for the marvelous gifts and privileges each of us enjoy.  The Lord has said that the meek shall inherit the earth (see Matt. 5:5).  I cannot escape the interpretation that meekness implies a spirit of gratitude as opposed to an attitude of self-sufficiency, an acknowledgment of a greater power beyond oneself, a recognition of God, and an acceptance of his commandments.  This is the beginning of wisdom.  Walk with gratitude before him who is the giver of life and every good gift. (Gordon B. Hinckley Ensign, August 1988)

Back to the question that has been asked and try to add this "What are we thankful for? "
