OSAS: Once Saved Always Saved? Part 1

Just want to make a good commentary on this one. I don't know how many of our Christian friends agree with this kind of teaching. For me, I would like to make some corrections or maybe clarification on such understanding. I would not make a direct answer, but I will try to use scripture how everything goes about it.

I. Understanding the word BELIEVE.

Most quoted scripture in a common Christendom is the scripture fund in John 3:16 which read -

16 ¶ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Was this an exact teaching about salvation? Does it refers to always saved? Maybe or maybe there's something we need to think about. I wouldn't not prefer quoting some old Greek C1 writings just to make any claim. I'll make it more simple for general viewers. Yes, it was Christ that we should believe for our salvation and it was thought him that we will be save. Does it mean all Christian believers what ever teachings they believe are already save? We should consider that Christ died for the world and not to a specific religion. So, what happens here was that, if all Christian believers who understand this words are saved already, nothing more nothing less, period.

But, if you will not continue reading 'til verse 17, you will never notice how the authors wants us to learn about Christ and the things we should do.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Did you get it? I'm sure you did. Here what I'm trying to point out - "MIGHT BE saved".

The word Might is a Modal Verb and here's some defination -

" used to express the possibility that something will happen or be done, or that something is true although not very likely:"

Which mean, there are possibilities of salvation or else no salvation at all. And the word "Might" also suggest that there are things needed or thing that supposed to be done for salvation.

Continuing reading will help you understand what's it all about. Here's the part of it and see how it goes -

20 For every one that DOETH EVIL hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

21 But he that DOETH TRUTH cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

The words in capital might cought our attention. Either of this two, Do evil or to do Good. Of course, we want salvation so we do that things for goodness sake. And there are lots of good things to work out.

And in my conclusion, believing in Christ need to do things that the Lord would want us to do in order for us to be save. We MIGHT be damn if we are doing things contrary to his will. Working out something for our salvation is the basic part of believing in Christ and having faith in him.
