I have seen God face to Face

Genesis 32:30 And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.

It's one of the most use quote about the appearance of God to human, this is sometimes convincing to some Christian about the Nature of God and His manifestation to Man in leading and giving revelations. But the question is, What is actually the context?

Former verse suggest how the story -

24 ¶ And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day.

25 And when he saw that he prevailed not against him, he touched the hollow of his thigh; and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was out of joint, as he wrestled with him.

26 And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.

27 And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.

28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.

29 And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there.

30 And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.

31 And as he passed over Penuel the sun rose upon him, and he halted upon his thigh.

32 Therefore the children of Israel eat not of the sinew which shrank, which is upon the hollow of the thigh, unto this day: because he touched the hollow of Jacob’s thigh in the sinew that shrank.
Jacob wrestled
with an angel of God

So, how's it says? Basically, if you analyzed everything in that story, Jacob who wrestled against someone or a being known as angels. So, how come Jacob declares he saw God face to face. I found two reasons about it and I will add the text here to help us analyzed the text -

First is the writting, we never knew the exact full story of the writting. We just all know that Jacob was left alone and there it goes he wrestled someone. There was something or more interesting could be written before that event.

In the other scripture we read that angels appeared or visit man for some reason like a call, a warning or a specific message. But in this short writtings, there are no specific instruction except to that blessings that was received after their conversation and his name was change to Israel.

So, as I understand it, there are things that happened prior to that settings, that could be interesting or something that not supposed to be written or to be revealed during those times.
