Christmas day | Is it important?

I was studying about the saviors life and ministry while he was here in on earth. Some of the study was about his Birth and I did search some passage of scriptures about it. While doing, a question was ask in my mind about Christmas on how did all start and why celebrate and some of the worldly tradition. For I know that this kind of tradition is only a temporary that would last only once a month in a year. I know that December 25, was not the exact date of Christ birth. So, why me (as a LDS) would celebrate such pagan tradition?

It was know that April 6 was the date of his Birth, though I could not force anybody about Prophet, Prophecy or Revelation. But I do believe about the prophet's words. But still, we do as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint (Mormon) celebrate that exact day which is December 25 as Christmas day, and I did remember one time that the prophet of God did told us that 'there is no wrong about that tradition', and we could fell a Christmas spirit during that month of celebration.

Some Christmas lights and decoration that reminds us about the Stars that Appears during his Birth. The Shepherd and some Gift of the Wise men, the angels that declare glad tidings of great joy, that a son of God was born on that day.

I did remember some of the experience last Christmas 2009. I did write this even in my journal for some future purposes and I could fell a Christmas spirit was so different than any other month of the Year. The Story was 3 days after Christmas day, So here's the Story -

"Last Monday, that was 3 days after Christmas, I was about to work with the Sister Missionaries, and we set a scheduled for Brother Ricky (Sister Neiz brother) for his teaching, but I wasn't able to be there ahead of our scheduled time, so I decide to go back and cancel my visit with the sisters already there. But while on my way home, I'd passed a man waiting for a ride, then suddenly a man on a bike lost his control and hit the man who's waiting a ride. The man who was hit by the bike got angry, so I pause for a moment to watch them if ever I could stop if they will fight or whatever happened to them on that day. But then, the man on the bike humbled and told him that he lost his control so he admitted that it was his fault. Then the man says, Okay, I forgive you, for it is Christmas. Then they separated.

While walking, I started thinking that the spirit of Christmas is too different and most of the people do change at that instant on that day (Christmas) is present. Then a question followed, 'What if it was not Christmas at that day the accident happens? I guess it would be trouble all day.' This lesson reminds me that people must have commitment to change not just in one day or we say Christmas day."

This experience alone did give me a good lesson and motivation to keep the Christmas spirit everyday as I could be. Christmas sometimes for others, it is the day that they got a lot of food to eat and some bonuses they'd received. For some, it is the day they could ask some gifts to their family or relative, or maybe for some it is a good business day for the carolers that they could have lots and lots of money received in caroling, might be for some this is a good day for choir competition and some other lights and decoration competition. But Hopefully, it shouldn't be that way. Christmas is not just about giving and asking much, but it's how much you love and you're loved.

So for me, Christmas is important than birthday, will anyway we could say both are important, but I would rather have that day (Christmas) be, than my Birthday. For without Christ birth our life is all but wasted as a grass trodden under foot and died.

Have I done any good in the world today?

Have I done any good in the world today?
Have I helped anyone in need?
Have I cheered up the sad,
and made someone feel glad?
If not, I have failed indeed.

Has anyone's burden been lighter today
because I was willing to share?
Have the sick and the weary been helped on their way?
When they needed my help was I there?

Then wake up and do something more than dream of your mansion above.
Doing good is a pleasure, a joy beyond measure, a blessing of duty and love.

There are chances for work all around just now,
Opportunities right in our way.
Do not let them pass by, saying, “Sometime I’ll try,”
But go and do something today.

’Tis noble of man to work and to give;
Love’s labor has merit alone.
Only he who does something helps others to live.
To God each good work will be known.

Will L. Thompson, 1847–1909

Merry Christmas to all

Some Christmas song for everyone

Angels we have heard on high
French Carol 1862

Angels we have heard on high,
Sweetly singing o'er the plains,
and the mountains in reply
Echoing their joyous Strains

Gloria in excel-sis Deo. Gloria in excel-sis Deo.

Shepherds, why this jubilee?
Why your joyous strains prolong?
What the gladsome tidings be
Which inspire your heav'nly song?

Come to Bethlehem and see
Him whose birth the angels sing;
Come, adore on bended knee
Christ the Lord, the new-born King.
