| A comment from an LDS Hugotan |
I covered the original post since it isn't an issue of this subject. I want to provide a brief commentary on this one, which he said about Sola Scriptura. To put it briefly, we don't believe in Sola Scriptura. We don't believe God's words were limited to just a single book, that you could just cherry-pick the best part. God will always speak, and his word was meant to be followed, or if he pleases, to be a scripture.
So here's the part that we should understand if you're to follow your ideology -
"And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen. - John 21:25"
Ok, then, how come we only have a limited number of books of the Bible? There are 33 of them in the Old Testament and 27 in the New Testament, which is even more important than the Old Testament. So you want me to believe that God's full work and mysteries are limited to the selected Bible we have today.
"9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. - 1 Corinthians 2:9-10"
Okay, so what happens after this? Who will then reveal the deep things of God after the apostle's death? Do we still need those things to be revealed and spoken in our days? There should be something out of it that will help us understand more about God's work and mysteries. After all, no one could explain what mysteries were all about, and it will remain a confusion to everyone unless God helps us understand it. Now, Stephan Reize, who do you think has it?
