Responding Jennifer Ponce: Church Name

I was tagged by Jxn Pxncx in her post, and I think this has to be something that testifies to their belief as INC members and that the church name must be (as their common claim) named according to the Bible. I made a post about this one with Job Bautista, and I don't see a good response rather it ends up as bigotry and hatred. So, here let's try to study Jxn Pxncx words and understand what the scripture means for us. See text in red as my response and some scriptural verses under a different color. Let's dive in -

The Bible said, “𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒏𝒐 𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒏𝒂𝒎𝒆 𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝒉𝒆𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝒈𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒏 𝒂𝒎𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝒎𝒆𝒏 𝒃𝒚 𝒘𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒉 𝒘𝒆 𝒎𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒃𝒆 𝒔𝒂𝒗𝒆𝒅.” The verse further testified, “Nor is there salvation in any other.” 𝑻𝒉𝒖𝒔, 𝒊𝒇 𝒂 𝒄𝒉𝒖𝒓𝒄𝒉 𝒊𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒅 “𝑪𝒉𝒖𝒓𝒄𝒉 𝒐𝒇 𝑪𝒉𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒕” 𝒊𝒕 𝒎𝒆𝒂𝒏𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒏𝒐 𝒔𝒂𝒍𝒗𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒔 𝒄𝒉𝒖𝒓𝒄𝒉.

I don't know about that. Christ never said anything about the exact church name, but maybe she meant Christ owns it or Christ is the Head of the Church. So let's talk about that in this article, and let's make it simpler to understand.

Even 𝑪𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒄 𝒂𝒖𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒕𝒆𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒇𝒚 that the one true Church founded by Christ is called “Church of Christ”:

Yeah, of course, since he founded it and Church registered name vs Church Organizations were different. Let's try to understand the Major Issue. Was it Christ as the one who organized it, or Felix Manalo, who simply registered his Church under the name of Christ? I had challenged Job Bautista one time about this issue, asking him if we are to take that kind of claim, then the only solution was to rename the Church's registered name. And if we all come up with that solution, then every church will be saved. 🤔

“5. Did Jesus Christ established a Church?

“Yes, from all history, both secular and profane, as well as from the Bible considered as a human document, we learn that Jesus Christ established a Church, 𝒘𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒉 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆𝒔 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒃𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝒄𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒅 𝒂𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝑯𝒊𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑪𝒉𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒂𝒏 𝑪𝒉𝒖𝒓𝒄𝒉 𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑪𝒉𝒖𝒓𝒄𝒉 𝒐𝒇 𝑪𝒉𝒓𝒊𝒔𝒕.”

(Cassily, Francis B., S.J. Religion: Doctrine and Practice for use in Catholic High Schools, p. 442-443.)

Actually, it's never an issue. Everyone knows how that thing goes, and everyone knows that Christ is authorized to perform or execute everything the Father wants him to do. So, yeah, it was his Church and it is God's church. No question about it. Christ is the author and finisher of Faith. Which means salvation must come only through him.

𝑯𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓, 𝑪𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒄 𝒂𝒖𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒔 𝒂𝒅𝒎𝒊𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒏𝒂𝒎𝒆 “𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒊𝒄” 𝒄𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒃𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒅 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑩𝒊𝒃𝒍𝒆, but instead, a name coined only by Ignatius, bishop of Antioch in early second century AD:

If you're to ask me about the Church's Official name, of course, we couldn't find the exact word you're looking for. But I don't think it was the issue. First, Christ never did at any time proclaim the Official Church name everyone should use. In the scriptures, the words church of God and Christ were used interchanges by the same person who addresses his epistle to each of the saints in Asia. And for me, it doesn't matter if you understand the Scriptures' doctrinal exegesis. Second, as the

“The name Catholic as a name is not applied to the Catholic Church in the Bible…St. Ignatius of Antioch, writing to the Christians of Smyrna about the year 110, is the first to use the name ‘The Catholic Church’…”

(Conway, Bertrand L. The Question Box, p. 132)

And I don't think this has anything to do with the subject unless you have some issue with how they named it that way, versus the name was used in biblical times. So far, Christ didn't say anything about using the right name of Church or Organizations as long as it was his Church, the very reason why they Call it Church of Christ or the Church of Christ in a General term or usage. Again, this has nothing to do with Christ Doctrine or the actual church name to be used, while the Christians during their time used to call it Christ Church, so it's just it.

Because Christ is the owner, the founder, the head, the husband, and the Savior of the Church of Christ, thus, it is only right to call the one true Church founded by Christ as "Church of Christ."

Yes, we get that everyone understood it. The Baptists, Evangelists, Adventists, Catholics, and many more used to call it Christ Church, but if the issue was all about the registered name that you're pointing out, it's not about it. I could give you the example of the word's Paul saying -

But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. 1 Timoth 3:15

So what was it all about? Paul simply states the whole name of the church, so does this count as the True Church name? It does, Paul simply says it was the Church of Christ or the Church of God. So was this a registered church name issue? I don't think so. Paul states the name, which is "the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth." This doesn't say anything about the right name of the organization, so it will be counted as true. They don't preach the usage Church name but rather the Gospel of Christ in His Church. So again, that doesn't say anything about whether the INC is true just because it was the name of a church written in the bible, while there are lots of attributes aside from that.
