Sentence of Stoning to Death

In the Old Testament, there are several laws and commandments for which stoning was prescribed as a form of capital punishment. Let's try to look at it -

• Rebellious Children: A persistently rebellious son.

• False Prophets: Prophets who lead people astray.

• Engagement Violations: If a man lies with a betrothed virgin who does not cry for help in the city.

• Human Sacrifice: Offering one's child to Molech (a form of idolatry involving child sacrifice).

• Witchcraft or Sorcery: Practicing witchcraft or sorcery.
• Reference: Exodus 22:18 (though this verse does not specify stoning, witchcraft was condemned and often associated with capital punishment. Stoning might be one of those, but let's consider exemptions.)
• Cursing Parents: A person who curses their father or mother.

You may see it as if God seems to be so cruel or unjust, but actually God wants to have an order in both societal and religious practice. This simply shows that God wouldn't tolerate unrighteous conduct and the punishment may seems cruel but could also be a warning to everyone won't abide the law.
