My first born child was named Shammahel. Do you know how I named here that name?
August 23, 2012 - December 8, 2012
The name Shammah was mention in the Old Testament though it is not famous in the days of David as his Brother. And on the other hand, I am thinking what will be the best name for our child if he or she will be born. I told my wife that I will be giving a child's name and I will try to look at some passage of scriptures if I could find a good name for our child.
It comes to the conclusion that our child is the answer to all our prayers. I couldn't think of any good name, then finally the Bible Dictionary helps me find a good one.
Jehovah-shammah. Heb. translated the Lord is there. In English, the name of the New Jerusalem in Ezekiel’s vision (Ezek. 48:35).
It was round about eighteen thousand measures: and the name of the city from that day shall be, The Lord is there.
The Word Jehovah should not be pronounced since it is sacred. So I decide to replace it with the word "EL" that stands for "Eloi" or "Elohim". So, names were supposed to be as El-Shammah. But it seems obvious in Hebrew writing which makes it more significant to the word Jehovah-Shammah. Then I decide to twist it over that make it more readable in English word. Then it ended that way Shammah-El or Shammahel.
Before she passed away, I created a Poem dedicated for her and that someday she could read it sometime. Sad to say, she didn't make it that far. So, during our little gathering before her burial, I pronounce the poem to everyone who was there.
God is there
I lost my way and I’m afraid
I stumble for what I’d just made
You left me up and took my fear,
I’m glad my Lord that thou art there.
So unhappy, I’m all alone
Just sit and watch the breaking dawn
You came to me removed my tears,
Oh, Lord my God, for thou are there.
Forgive me, Lord, forgive thy child,
Don’t leave me here, ‘til eventide.
Guide me, Lord, as I draw thee near,
For I know now, that thou art there.
Then I believe and trust in thee,
For thou leadeth me back thy way.
I'll guide my soul ‘til I am near,
In place, we dwell where God is there.
